On The Fence

You Are Going To Wish For More

While the idea here with Project Dorothy is solid, unfortunately, it doesn’t take things further with any of the characters. Blake and James clearly have a complicated relationship, but it doesn’t necessarily go into the wound or address what led to them becoming desperate enough to rob a bank.

Dorothy, while it is established she is some form of artificial intelligence, what led to her becoming so dangerous isn’t developed, and while voiced menacingly, because her rise is barely featured, just her being this desperate and isolated computer, she doesn’t have the fangs required to be a formidable villain.

Project Dorothy (2024) – Review

Summary

“Project Dorothy,” while releasing at a good time when fear and worries about AI are on the rise, doesn’t fully exploit the fear its viewers could have or develop the would-be humans who could unleash the destructive being.
