One of the leaders of the Pogues, he has been without parental supervision for about 9 months, and because of that, it seems his life has slowly descended. First, in terms of the looks of his home and following that was his grades. Though add in being told his dad is dead, and his supposed guardian, Uncle T, in a whole other state, you could understand why John B’s life is a mess.
At least until he discovers something which hints to the possibility his dad is alive.
Additional Information About John B
1: His dad disappeared 9 months ago and is assumed dead.
Mom abandoned him and dad when he was 3, and it is assumed she is in Colorado.
He believes his uncle, Uncle T, is in Mississippi.
John B’s best friend since the third grade, and the saddest example of what the Outer Banks can offer. That is limited social mobility and crime. Which, for multiple generations, that is what JJ’s family has been known for.
Kiara is the sole girl of John B’s group and has the distinction of being one of the few who qualify as a Kook to interact and be welcomed amongst the Pogues. But, outside of being one of the Pogues, Kiara is also someone heavily into the environment.
Touted as the smart one in the group, who often mentions being on track for a merit scholarship, Pope is sort of an outlier amongst the Pogues. His intelligence and eccentricity presents him as a possible Kook, but due to his finances, he is a Pogue. But as he makes clear, while very much a Pogue, he has little desire to end up like JJ and his family.
The daughter of a Kook, yet less condescending than most, Sarah is considered the princess of her people and was a friend of Kiara’s at one time. However, something ended their friendship, and now Kiara can’t stand her, despite them both seemingly caring about animals and the environment.
Additional Information About Sarah
1: Was friends with Kiara in 9th grade, then something happened, leading to Kiara seeing her as her worst enemy in the 10th grade.
2: Is a notorious cheater, if you believe her younger sister Wheezie
The lighthouse keeper who is well versed in local shipwrecks.
