Blood Ties – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:55 pm

Overview

In this story of two brothers, one a cop and another a convict, you get what seems like a Martin Scorsese inspired movie which lacks stars but tries to emulate his storytelling.

Trigger Warning(s): Rape like circumstance

Review (with Spoilers)

It is amazing to me how a film starring such actresses like Marion Cotillard, Mila Kunis, and Zoe Saldana can really just go under the radar and no one notices. Their names, as well as Clive Owens, make this film seem like something which would have been released in the fall and geared toward Oscar nominations. Instead, though, it was released in the spring as an independent feature, leaving you to wonder: why?

The Angriest Man in Brooklyn – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:56 pm

Overview

If you enjoy Robin Williams showing that not only is he past his prime, but desperately trying to relive his glory days, watch this.

Review (with Spoilers)

I’m not exactly sure what happened to Robin Williams over the years which made him so difficult to watch. Have directors just stopped trying to do their jobs and decided to just let him run amok? Does Williams more so care about getting steady work and a paycheck? Or is it his agent hopes that, like Christopher Walken, Williams will find himself either the silver lining in rather odd, and arguably bad movies, or maybe even luck himself into indie classics? Either way, I don’t know what happened but I’m starting to think he should give up starring in any sort of production and just remain a supporting player.

Orange is the New Black: Season 2/ Episode 13 “We Have Manners. We’re Polite.” [Season Finale] – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:56 pm

Overview

The season finale mostly gives you what you expect to happen, with little to no surprises.

Review (with Spoilers)

13 episodes over one weekend. The backstories of Taystee, Poussey, Vee, Suzzane, Red, Rosa and Gloria, as well as others who really weren’t that interesting. But, even with Sophia being largely absent, these women really helped keep the show kicking, and arguably deserving of the hype. But I must say that for a season finale, this episode was disappointing.

Orange is the New Black: Season 2/ Episode 12 “It Was the Change” – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:56 pm

Overview

We’ve almost reached the end of the line and if there is one thing that should be noted in this episode: Never, ever, trust Vee.

Review (with Spoilers)

As you can tell by now, Vee pretty much took whatever significance Sophia had, among others, and damn near stole the season. Arguably she is only 2nd to Piper at this point, and with one episode left, question is will she make it for season 3? One random girl got shanked and now Red and her have a standoff going. And unlike the little battle between Vee and Gloria, there will be blood.

Orange is the New Black: Season 2/ Episode 11 “Take a Break from Your Values” – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:56 pm

Overview

When people don’t show humility, bad things happen. Which even when you pray, sometimes can’t be avoided.

Review (with Spoilers)

If you recall season 1, the reason why the girls all came together, despite racial differences, was because Mendez was such a bully that he had to go. But, one thing they couldn’t do is kill him. However, with Vee making a whole lot of enemies, and thinking the measly few Black girls she has can protect her, it seems her days maybe numbered. For that fake laugh and friendly gesture thing isn’t done so much anymore, and with her assumption she is the HBIC, it seems a few maybe ready to cut the head off which carries the crown.

Orange is the New Black: Season 2/ Episode 10 “Little Mustachioed Shit” – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:56 pm

Overview

With a 2nd Piper episode comes a rehash on her relationship with Alex, but luckily the episode is saved by Red and Vee’s continuing issues.

Review (with Spoilers)

I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for Vee and Red’s little back and forth, and all the people they bring into their drama, this season would probably suck. For one, I really don’t give a single damn about Piper and I wished she would get dragged off to solitary for a season like Ms. Claudette, who hopefully will be in season 3 because I miss her. But, sad little Piper aside, Vee is really starting to become one hell of a villain, who strangely I still like and hope that her ways aren’t due to malice, but just business. Even with that said though, with her interaction with Poussey this episode, I am starting to feel like Taystee a few episodes back, and am finding it hard whose side to be on.

Orange is the New Black: Season 2/ Episode 9 “40 OZ of Furlough” – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:56 pm

Overview

Another episode which may feature one character, Red in particular, but Vee finds some way to make sure she shares the spotlight.

Review (with Spoilers)

With Mendez’s return you probably expect him to cause a lot of BS, but in fact it is Bennett that causes issues. But, for the most part, the focus is on Red and Vee, as it has fairly consistently been. For as more product comes in, we begin to understand why Red wanted to look fierce, in a growl way, for when she and Vee met once more. For while they were once friends, greed ended any semblance of friendship.

Orange is the New Black: Season 2/ Episode 7 “Comic Sans” – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Last updated on July 22nd, 2018 at 06:56 pm

Overview

Black Cindy is the focus of the episode, as is Red’s resurgence and Vee’s new booming business.

Review (with Spoilers)

In “Comic Sans” there is a strong focus on everyone trying to find some way to cope and deal with their situation the best they can. For some, like Cindy, it is with laughter; for others it is using, and abusing, their power; and for others it is just finding an outlet. Since with their past behind them and their future bleak, you are almost forced to do more than just wallow in self-pity. After all, no one is going to take care of you while you do nothing for them in return.
