How Did It End?

As has been hinted throughout the entire film, Bubble was going to mirror the story of The Little Mermaid. Which it does. Hibiki, as the Battlekour arena falls apart thanks to Uta’s sister(s), rather than escape the zone, as everyone should, he goes after Uta, who is trying to make peace with her sister to stop the destruction. To save her is a group effort, and despite getting her from her sister’s grasp, Uta can’t maintain her human form, so she slowly but surely, breaks apart until she is nothing but bubbles, as she was before.

But, unlike The Little Mermaid, she isn’t dead once she loses her human form. She simply is a bubble, and in that form, she continues to be by Hibiki’s side, especially as he does Battlekour in what appears to be the real world and not the one caused by Uta and Hibiki getting close 5 years ago and Uta’s sister(s) getting angry.

Is There Sequel/ Prequel Potential?

Bubble doesn’t necessarily set up a sequel or a prequel. As for the potential of doing so? While, as noted in our review, most characters don’t receive much in the way of development, I can’t foresee them doubling back to do character development.
