How Did It End?

After crushing on Gabriela since the 5th grade, Paige switches focus to Gabriela’s twin sister AJ. Why? Because Gabriela is a bit of a mess. She is off and on with her girlfriend and is more social than Paige is comfortable with. Paige isn’t necessarily for sharing her girlfriend with the world, in terms of dating a social butterfly. So AJ’s interest is welcomed since AJ is more lowkey, and while AJ is well-known and popular amongst the track team, Paige doesn’t have to compete for attention.

Now, for a good while, Paige and AJ were in a good place. AJ trained Paige in track, they kissed, shared vulnerabilities, shared a bed during a class trip, and while they weren’t official, they were on that path. That is until Gabriela reveals she kissed Paige after a track meet, and being that Paige never revealed that to AJ, AJ is pissed since she lived most of her life in Gabriela’s shadow. She came out before Gabriela, yet Gabriela is the one whose sexuality was more of a thing (in Gabriela’s defense, she is lesbian, and AJ is bi). Also, in terms of the family, Gabriela is given far more attention despite AJ and Gabriela being fraternal twins.

But to add to the drama, AJ reveals she is KingPun, the reason why Paige was going to be suspended and lose her chance to go to CalArts. So for a few days, Paige is wondering how she is going to avoid the suspension that looms over her while not ratting out AJ?

Luckily, AJ decides to tell Principal Collins they are KingPun, they get suspended, and Paige’s record is safe. But, being that Paige wants to mend things and continue where she left off with AJ, she, Stacey, and Dillon work together for a grand gesture. One that will be not only to get AJ back but fit for Paige’s CalArts application question of what was her happiest moment. Which, per the mural Paige does, is all the moments she shared with AJ.

Thus leading to those two reconciling and everyone cheering for them.

Is There Sequel/ Prequel Potential?

Yes. Where we end things, Paige and AJ are just getting together, but there are a lot of things not touched upon fully. AJ, like Paige, has never been in a relationship, and with that, there is exploring what that means and also having sex. Add in Paige’s mom, Angie, is starting a relationship with Coach Murray, that can be explored as well.

After all, Paige grew up with the only guy in her life seemingly being Dillon. So to now have a man around who might walk around in his shorts and mess with the dynamic she and her mom have, that could be an adjustment. Add in Dillon and Stacey dealing with trying to get into the same college, to continue their relationship, or going to different ones and trying to be long-distance. There is a laundry list of things a sequel could address.
