Not Practice But A Choice – Morgan, Alex

Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann)
“Morgan (Fiona Gubelmann),” The Good Doctor, “Blessed,” directed by Gary Hawes, 2023, (ABC)

Ultimately, Morgan ends up adopting Eden. Mind you, originally, she was going into the foster system, but after a pair of parents abandoned her once they learned about her medical issues, Morgan realized no one would be better than her to raise Eden.

Naturally, Alex inserts himself and says the wrong thing, but a last-minute save in a gift for Eden.

You Just Have To Have Faith – Nurse Villanueva, Dr. Andrews, Asher, Jordan, Jerome, Eddie

Eddie, a long-term patient, comes to the hospital, and while a lovely and peaceful man, his faith stirs up a lot for Asher. Being that he is antagonistic to all things regarding faith, he butts heads with Jordan and Jerome, and while he doesn’t ruin any relationship, he is forced to apologize.

Eddie (Richard Harmon)
“Eddie (Richard Harmon),” The Good Doctor, “Blessed,” directed by Gary Hawes, 2023, (ABC)

He isn’t alone in that. Dr. Andrews, after learning Eddie got to see Nurse Villanueva’s artwork, and he hasn’t? He finds himself trying to get back in Nurse Villanueva’s good graces. Not by pushing money to her department and what she could use, but he does humble himself and gets a date.

An Obsessive Need To Be Right – Shaun, Dr. Lim, Dr. Glassman

Shaun just won’t let it go. There is no cancer, but there have been mistakes, and Shaun has become obsessed with finding a medical problem, and he gets his wish. Dr. Glassman had a mini-stroke which wasn’t caught due to the radiation he went through.

But, rather than reveal this to Dr. Glassman and talk about it, Shaun goes straight to Dr. Lim, who believes Dr. Glassman shouldn’t perform any more additional surgeries.

Things To Note

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. On a level of 8 to an act of violence, how mad will Dr. Glassman be and will he make a big stink out of this?
  2. How Did Dr. Lim not learn Dr. Andrews undermined her directions?

What Could Happen Next

  1. Glassman noting Shaun had no right and went too far, but eventually being thankful for being coerced to slow down.
  2. Alex being all in Morgan’s business and showing up unannounced
  3. Andrews, once again, being pushed to the brink as president and potentially leaving the job for something less stressful

Notable Performances or Moments

Dr. Andrews’ Speech About Climbing The Ladder

Many of us are trained, be it because of how we grew up, school, or other factors, to always seek better and to climb the ladder. Making more money, and dealing with the headaches that come with it, because becoming stagnant or complacent is dangerous, is often embedded within us. Dr. Andrews is a prime example of that and also exhibits that living that way will not make you happy.

Look at him. Divorced, no kids, despite at one time seeming to want them, doesn’t appear to have much, if any relationships, platonic or otherwise, and all he seems to talk about is budgets, patients, and what’s the most stressful thing he is dealing with at any time. That’s no way to live, and while it took him some time to realize that, it appears the spell has finally been broken.

Now, let’s just see how he sorts out the many pieces of his life, long neglected, with this new mindset.

Dr. Lim (Christina Chang)
“Dr. Lim (Christina Chang),” The Good Doctor, “Blessed,” directed by Gary Hawes, 2023, (ABC)

Well, let’s be clear, Dr. Glassman may not retire from the clinic, but being that surgery is where he finds himself stimulated, losing the ability to do that may lead to him desiring retirement. After all, he is a renowned brain surgeon and has sacrificed many important life aspects to be accomplished. So to have that stripped from him by a man who is like a son to him? That’s going to be devastating and feel like the ultimate betrayal. Especially since Shaun went to someone of authority to strip Dr. Glassman of his ability to do surgeries rather than allow Dr. Glassman to potentially advocate for himself and reveal to Dr. Lim what is going on with him medically.

On The Fence

Alex Being Too Involved In Morgan’s Motherhood Journey

While I understand there is some strange aversion to giving Alex his own life and storyline, must he be so latched onto Morgan’s? I get it, they were a couple for a long time and still have feelings for one another. However, it didn’t work on multiple levels. So can she just enjoy this moment, a truly long-term storyline, for herself?
