Episode 14 “The Grave Digger” Recap

Dull-lilah: Tyrese, Delilah, Cameron

Delilah, still reeling from not getting into her safety school, decides to let loose a bit. So, when hanging out with Cameron, she skips one of her extracurricular activities, goes to a party Tyrese invites her and Cameron to, and gets tipsy.

Lucky for her, Robyn isn’t home when she gets back, but Aunt Vi makes it clear that Delilah will have to tell her mom what happened in the morning.

This Week’s Case

This week, Robyn takes on a serial killer and their apprentice. The serial killer, the Grave Digger, is a rich man who took on a poor, manipulable one, who, a year ago, took the fall for their crimes. But, with the Grave Digger wanting to get back to “Purfifying” the women he kidnaps and buries alive, he uses his “acolyte” to distract Robyn in hopes that she’ll waste enough time with him to the point the latest potential victim can’t be saved.

Now, what makes this worth noting at all is Robyn having to play mind games with the Grave Digger to get information, and her bringing up how her partner died because of her, and this triggering her becoming “The Equalizer.” With that in mind, hopefully, this means Michelle coming out of hiding, and perhaps even the mysterious figure that was in CIA Director Greene’s office being revealed.

Overall

Our Rating (77/100)

There is a positive trajectory going on with “The Equalizer” right now. Delilah’s storyline is holding it down, as she deals with trying to live a perfect life not leading to expected results, and having a moment of rebellion. Pair that with appreciating how Aunt Vi and Robyn co-parent, and she continues to be set in a consistent, almost astonishing at times way.

Add in we are getting some hints that maybe something in Robyn’s past, could come back, whether established or not, and I will admit, there is a level of excitement there. But, between Marcus not heeding Captain Watkins warning, and working rather close with Robyn on a serial killer case, and then Aunt Vi mentioning a former rival who asked her to teach, and not meeting said rival or seeing Aunt Vi in front of a class? While there are many things to be happy about, I’m unsure why Aunt Vi continues to not get the push she deserves.

I mean, between teaching the class and maybe that former rival becoming part of a love triangle with Curtis in there too? There are options to finally have Aunt Vi be seen, more often, outside the kitchen, maybe the living room if she is lucky.
