Recap

What Did I Just Do?: Evie

Over the course of a few hours, Evie deals with dreams that have her see what the birch did, and then questions, considering the violence, if she was right? Not because she is against what she did but because she wants validation. However, no one gives it to her so she just goes about her day.

Wrong Place At The Wrong Time: Sheriff Baker, Evie, Wes

There is a commotion at school as Ryan is discovered, and what happened to him circulates. Leading to Evie, like a fool, going to the hospital hoping to get a peek and running into Wes. Someone who believes she had a role in what happened so he threatens her and her father. Thus, Evie goes back to the Birch, who welcomes her with open arms and takes care of everything.

But, before Wes is handled, and creates a distraction, Sheriff Baker spots Evie watching as he and his team look over the body of what assumingly is the junkie. And with Evie’s backpack close by, Sheriff Baker, who the Polk family pays off, has some questions. However, with Wes’ body, 20 minutes prior, being mutilated like Ryan’s, Evie is let go.

Anyone Else Feel They Could Combine Episodes?

Fully recognizing this is a web series, in a almost YouTube sense, doesn’t it sometimes feel that, instead of releasing two, nearly 15-minute episodes, it would just make sense to combine the two? For we don’t really get a lot out of Evie’s story this episode. Yes, she looks up Kelly Bernstein, who has seemingly made progress in life, and she has the Birch kill again but, something about her story seems dull. Like it is all matter of fact, and I can’t even say it picks up towards the end and makes you want more. It just seems like her story needs an oomph. Be it Evie having someone to play off of or maybe using Lanie to be a trojan horse so that Evie seems less of a downer?

And while I say Evie is part of the problem, I mean more so how she is written than she is performed.
