Plot Recap

The Deliverer Of Bad News – Rudy

Rudy’s return to the house has him thinking about all that could have gone wrong. Yes, Paul died, but what if Man-God didn’t mean that being what Rudy would regret? With that in mind, he rushes him, and with it initially appearing empty, he begins to fear the worst.

Luckily, Aisha pops up, Sylphie too, and as everyone comes into the living room, Rudy reveals Paul died and, as is apparent, he lost his hand in the fight to save Zenith.

Norn’s Wrath – Norn, Rudy, Roxy

As you can imagine, Norn is the most vocal regarding Paul’s death. She is ready to set things back to where she and Rudy were and blame him, but with seeing his hand missing, she reserves that anger. At least until everyone leaves and Rudy brings up Roxy as a potential second wife.

With that reveal, Norn goes off on him, and then Roxy and Roxy is so embarrassed and hurt that she decides to leave.

It Was Bound To Happen – Sylphie, Roxy, Norn

But, before she even leaves the room, Sylphie reassures her that she is fine with Rudy taking a second wife. She knows how he is and knows this was bound to happen. Also, with how Rudy has talked about Roxy, and now that she has met her and realizes they are just the same, any issues she had regarding Roxy are gone.

This is upsetting to Norn, since she is not only a follower of Millis, but some part of her always seeks out a reason for Rudy to be dealt some sort of punishment. But she is a child with no real power in the situation, so her feelings are left to simmer.

One Big, Sort Of Happy Family – Rudy, Norn, Aisha, Lilia, Zenith, Roxy, Sylphie

When the episode ends, Rudy’s entire family is in the house. Aisha and Lilia, who embrace and soon will fight over chores, are reunited, as is Zenith, who showed some signs of remembering Paul when Rudy laid out his weapons and armor. Of which Norn takes up his sword and has Rudy practice with her, and she uses all her strength and swings wildly like Eris did when she was being trained.

But, while Norn still has a long way to go towards maturity, at the very least, between the adults, there is peace. Sylphie has her baby, Lucie. Roxy marries Rudy after the baby is born, and things end with Rudy at his father’s grave, catching him up, thanking him, and wishing he was there to give him advice.

    Highlights

    The Tears

From Norn crying when she learns her father is dead to Rudy’s guilt for being seen as the best but not good enough to keep his dad from dying, there were so many scenes that left us in tears. Even less dramatic moments, like Aisha being given permission to set aside her role or duties and embrace her mom, had me messed up. For with all the focus being on Paul’s death and what that means to everyone, it is easy to forget that Aisha, out of everyone, still has their parent.

Yes, Zenith is alive, but how long has it been since Norn has seen her mom? Does she even remember her? Heck, while Zenith has shown signs she remembers Paul, what about any of her children? With that in mind, the push to remember Aisha and Lilia still have each other was a touching moment in a heartbreaking scene.

How Norn Can So Easily Get A Rise Out Of You

Norn is written to be the type of character who could easily get a rise out of you. With Eris-styled anger, if not volatile emotions in general, she can go from someone you feel bad for and cry with to someone you wish one of these adults would say or do something to.

But, props to Sylphie, who seemingly is one of the few who know how to shut Norn down without raising her voice, threatening her, or anything that a less mature adult would think is the best way to have this child mind her elders.

Sylphie’s Love For Rudy Knowing No Bounds

I must admit, sometimes I feel like Sylphie is way too nice and understanding. I’d even say, even considering the bullying, how lost she was after the mass teleportation event, and having to grow up as a subordinate, it still doesn’t explain why she is the way she is.

But, even without exact reasons, you must appreciate her love for Rudy and accepting all of him. Yes, he will go to lengths for his family, including losing part of a limb and trying to give grace to his excessively rude little sister. However, at the same time, he is a man who, until only a year or two ago, had a shrine for someone’s panties. Also, while not as sexually experienced as Sylphie once thought, she has had sex with him, and as shown throughout his more recent partners, Rudy will put a woman to sleep.

So, while there is a need to understand and know Sylphie beyond seemingly putting everyone else’s happiness first, maybe that could be a storyline for season 3 to follow?

    An Eris Sighting!

While it was just her from the back, with her red hair flowing, seeing Eris at the end of the episode was a treat. We can only hope that, similar to an OVA featuring her between seasons 1 and 2, there will be another to fill us in on her adventures.
