As Kaisar and his team try to determine how to get Charioce’s bracelet, the Onyx Knights hire an outsider to take out the Red Dragon.
El’s Guilt: El (Mugaro), Azazel
It has been a long time since El has laid eyes on Azazel. Making Azazel dismissing him, at first, heartbreaking. So, to seemingly reestablish their old customs, El follows Azazel. Something which ends up not being a good idea for people who are seemingly at the service of the king spot them. Luckily for those fools, they don’t corner El and learn what he can do for Azazel saves him.
Leading to El apologizing for not helping when Azazel needed him the most. Of which Azazel says El has nothing to apologize for. Especially because, and I should note he doesn’t say this to El, the person he is truly upset with is Nina. If only because now she can turn into a dragon at will. Meaning, if she only had shown up, Azazel may not have led his people to slaughter.
Commentary
After that, I believe, two-week break, we pick up right where we left off. Though I must say, it is nice to be reminded of Azazel’s guilt. If only because so much of what has been allowed to happen to his people is on him. Because of his status and assumed power, be it in “Genesis” or “Virgin Soul,” never mind the years in between, he has been part of the fall of demons. Yet, has survived.
Not by staging a mass retreat with his people either. Either by running away or being captured, time and time again he was allowed to live while better demons fell. A weight you can tell is increasingly getting heavy to the point it is getting hard for him to remain stern in the face of failure. But, at least he doesn’t blame El for what has happened as of late.
Which may come to save him since, at least in my mind, I think El looks up to him like a father figure. After all, he is the only male that has consistently been around him. Plus, him being a demon, and his intentions known, surely helped mold El and will make it so if he does bring about a balance, it won’t be with any sect getting a tip in power. Not the humans like his mom, the demons like Azazel, or the angels like Lady Sophiel. For while each have touched his life in a different way, in the end, he has no agenda but for them to co-exist. A tall order which will not be easy. Even after Charioce’s new favorite toy is dismantled.
Betrayal of the King: Charioce
The leader of the Onyx Knights knows the king colludes with the Red Dragon but thinks the dragon has the king under a spell. So, being that now the king won’t give a kill order, outside forces are paid to help. One being a demon with a familiar face.
Commentary
Arguably, while each sect is dealing with issues due to low numbers or insurrection, mankind is doing the worse right now. People are putting up posters against Charioce and his latest attempt to use Dromos is pushing all his workers to the limits. On top of that, while Gabriel is dealing with a rebellion thanks to El and Jeanne, Charioce’s problems with Kaisar, Nina, and eventually Azazel surpasses that.
The Palace Ball: Kaisar, Nina
With Nina in love with Charioce, there is this desire to find a way to save him. Perhaps get rid of the mad king Charioce and somehow make it so Chris is the one sitting on the throne. Yet, as long as Dromos is within reach, the possibility of saving Chris isn’t realistic. Hence her going along with this Palace Ball infiltration plan.
Of which will require Kaisar’s former (?) subordinate Alessand. After all, it would be easier to get in with an invitation than to try to bust in. For, lest we forget, every person in Kaisar’s crew, sans Bacchus and Hamsa, are wanted in some form or another. However, Alessand is a bit tired of being associated with Kaisar. If only because he comes from a noble family and figured the Orleans Knights would up and solidify his status. Yet, all Kaisar’s leadership has done is bring him down.
So the request to help is initially rejected. However, with some convincing, he ends up for it. Just as long as he doesn’t have to do much.
Commentary
Is it weird to say the only thing I’m truly invested in, at this point, is Charioce and Nina’s relationship? Not that the pending battle scenes aren’t of interest but I’m sort of ready for this season to end. Which I don’t mean in a “This show is becoming terrible” kind of way. More so, we’re coming to a natural conclusion and with it on the horizon, I just want to bask in the glow of this season’s ending.
