As strong of a showing as the Gods had, they are no match for Charioce’s secret weapon. One which reconnects him with Nina and puts, at the very least, a pause to the war.
Dromos: Charioce, El (Mugaro), Gabriel
What has Charioce been hiding in that prison? Dromos. A relic which, according to Gabriel, was made before man, gods, and demons roamed Mistarcia. Something so powerful that despite how El has been touted all this time, Gabriel was ready to retreat. Something El wasn’t willing to do for he didn’t see his mother yet.
For that, he paid a price. Not death. Rather, after the beam Dromos shot out broke El’s barrier and hit him, he was rendered unconscious. Thus making Charioce look strong and sending the gods back to their world.[note]I should note Charioce paid a price too. He is now blind in one eye.[/note]
Commentary
I don’t know why, but when I saw that hand I immediately thought of FLCL. That aside, I’m trying to figure out how a human being was able to create something older than gods and demons, and more powerful than both? Also, will we ever learn about these beings? Will other weapons like Dromos appear? While this put a nail in the Gods vs. Man war, it also creates so many additional things to cover.
The Red Dragon: Charioce, Jeanne, Nina, Kaisar
After Charioce’s Pyrrhic victory, in which, after El is knocked out, Charioce’s Onyx soldiers kill angels in masse. Thus leaving our lovable escapees. Now, Favaro is who knows where and is unaccounted for. However, Jeanne, Kaisar, and Rita are surrounded and Charioce has no intention of calling his men off.
But before focusing on that situation, Nina confronts Charioce. For, after their chance meeting before, naturally there is a need for some answers. However, being that her friends’ lives were being threatened, she doesn’t get the information she is seeking then and there. But, in a perhaps odd gesture, aside for him asking about dancing with her again, he hugs her. Thus allowing her to become the red dragon and save her friends.
Commentary
I’m trying to understand the whole dragon thing. Unlike her peers, she cannot turn into a dragon on a whim. She has to be, for a lack of a better term, turned on in order to do so. Now, in the past it seemed, post-transformation, her actions were due to pure pent up frustration. However, it seemed she was fully in control this time. Making it where, even when a golem or a group of Onyx soldiers seem to get the upper hand, she defeats them.
Leading to the question of whether her, perhaps, falling in love has given her this increased control or not? For, like we saw with Azazel [note]What happened to him?[/note] hugging her had no effect. Yet, Charioce did. In fact, hugging him activated her transformation to and from a dragon. Which is especially interesting since it seemed Nina turned back into a human only when tired out.
So, it should be interesting to see what these two do in the long run. Especially with Charioce seeing Nina’s true power and maybe wanting to have it. As for whether she’d let him or not? Well, that is hopefully a future storyline.
The Next Move: Rita, Jeanne, Nina
As Kaisar provides a distraction, Rita, Jeanne, and Nina escape on Bacchus’ [note]Whatever happened to him too?[/note] Hippogriff. However, no sooner than they are safe that Rita jumps off to go on another rescue mission. For while Charioce stops Kaisar from being killed, he still is an escapee and traitor. Much less, Favaro has to be found wherever he is hiding.
Leaving Jeanne and Nina amongst themselves. Now, the long-term goal for Jeanne is to be reunited with her son. However, so comes the question of how to get to the land of the gods? It isn’t like the demon home world which was, arguably, easy to get to. But, as luck would have it, someone in Nina’s village used to talk about the place. An older woman she says. So, with that noted, we are off to Nina’s home!
Commentary
Are we missing anyone from the first season? Well, outside of Amira of course. For with Nina being the connecting factor for Favaro, I do wonder if she may have another major connection to a Genesis character. Though, I also wonder if Charioce may follow them. After all, while he has dragons on his team, they aren’t on Nina’s level. Plus, despite not being a god similar in power to El, she defeated his men. Much less, I’m sure Nina’s strength is in his mind so imagine an army of dragon hybrids against the gods? What more could you need?
But, setting Charioce and Genesis connections aside, I do hope we spend a good amount of time in the dragon village. If just because, I want to learn more about Nina. I’d like to know how her mom, who I believe is the human one, ended up with a dragon? But I’d also just like to see the mother/ daughter dynamic and maybe witness a cute moment or two. A nice little break after a rather epic few battles.
