Summary

After a short talk with Chelsea, Raven decides to reveal she is psychic too and this leads to her bonding with Booker more than ever before. Which, considering Nia has long felt left out, it only makes things worse. Which Tess tries to make better by recognizing her pain and cracking jokes, but it doesn’t fix the problem. So, to try to join in the fun she lies about having visions. Something which gets Raven into a dangerous situation so she comes clean. Leading to Ernesto landing on Levi’s arm and Nia, being that she is braver than the rest, getting the money.

Commentary

Nia talking about some of her insecurities from not being psychic with Raven.
Nia: I just wanted to think that I was like you too.

Balance! Nia’s relationship with Raven has long been strained because of Booker. Because Nia is more independent, takes initiative, and does less idiotic things, she has doted on Booker more and that was understood. However, the whole psychic thing probably puts Nia over and while Raven may have calmed it down, for now, don’t expect the envy and isolation to end.

After all, Booker and Raven can share visions, talk about and try to decipher them together, and Nia can just listen – if told at all. So this really pushes Raven to adjust and address her favoritism and what it means as a single parent. For outside of Tess, Nia doesn’t really have anybody else since her dad is now in Texas.

Highlights

  1. We got a bit of balance between the hijinks Disney has long been known for and the new age Disney which consistently addresses its characters feelings and shows them as human.

On The Fence

  1. Anyone else worry Levi sometimes may feel left out as well? Though he has all of Chelsea’s attention, increasingly it seems like he values Raven’s more. Maybe because he sees her work, take initiative, and is less scatterbrained. Never mind that, as much as she is his aunt, he doesn’t put up with his nonsense and she checks him. So, like if he was her kid, he wants her approval.
