Overview
As the cuteness continues when it comes to Ava and Auggie, Riley’s group of friends begin to have 2nd thoughts about their rift. Especially as they realize they are no longer kings and there is so much to learn. Something which is easier to do together than apart.
Main Plot (with Commentary)
Topic 1: Auggie, Stay (Ava & Auggie)
As with part 1, the friendship between Ava and Auggie is just so cute. He is trying his best to present himself as something stable in her life, and you can tell she appreciates it. To the point as much as people may argue over their shipping of Riley and Lucas, Lucas and Riley, and etc., honestly it’s the puppy love of Ava and Auggie and Smackle and Farkle where you can see the beauty of a strong connection, no matter what the age.
Topic 2: REMEMBER THE ALAMO! (Farkle, Smackle, Zay, and Lucas)
Splitting off from Riley had to be done right? She is stuck in the hole because she was afraid. What is there to be afraid of? We were kings in middle school and we shall continue our reign in high school. From what it seems, that is the mindset as Zay and Lucas walk into the locker room as Smackle and Farkle meet with Abigail Adams’ smart kids. Then, soon after they introduce themselves, they get massacred. Farkle and Smackle are left feeling stupid as one kid shows off his clone and robot, and Zay and Lucas just get beat up for their arrogance.
This leaves them all wondering why did they leave Riley and Maya? They left them alone, broke Riley’s faith in them and their friendship, and yet the guilt and embarrassment is too much for them to reconcile. From what it seems, they rather the group splintered into two than admit they were wrong, were trying to take high school by storm, or either other way you’d like to approach it.
Topic 3: “[…] when you don’t understand what life is doing, the most important thing friends can be is there for each other.”(Riley & Maya)
While the majority of their friends are away, Maya and Riley remain in the hole watching people go by. Leading them to think they may have discovered why the seniors put them in the hole. It is because they truly aren’t ready for high school. They see people do more, like making out, than they ever did, and witness just what it means to be passed their age, beyond their grade, and god how unready they are for all of it. Yet, they are alone. Something which the seniors, Thor (Luke Benward), Francesca (Claudia Lee), and Nikki (Ashley Argota) note happened to them. They were once a big group of six, but then they split up and grew apart. A process which happened naturally, but led to things never being the same.
Thus leading to Maya and Riley deciding to, unlike the others, just sit everyone down in the same place and issue an apology. One which some like Lucas don’t understand why it is coming from them, but by the episode’s end it is agreed that they will all protect each other and, arguably, continue to inspire one another with their loyalty, their own specific talents, and ability to persevere.
Things To Note
Cory seems to have won Marly over, but I think she may end up questioning Cory’s teaching methods as Farkle used to.

Highlights
Auggie and Ava’s relationship to me, alongside Farkle and Smackle, I think represents the healthiest showing of both kid relationships and teenaged relationships.
Low Points
Though I could understand Zay and Lucas acting arrogant when walking into the football team locker room, I was left a bit lost by Farkle and Smackle. Not because I don’t expect them to be confidant, but even with them both being socially awkward you’d think they would know their middle school education doesn’t compare to a high school one. Even for Smackle who went to an elite middle school.
On The Fence
Sometimes I must admit that the show having issues like the triangle get stretched out, but the rift between friends end within two episodes, is a bit annoying. For while I understand somethings need to be squashed quickly for the benefit of the show, it is this program switching between being realistic and what is for the benefit of the show which frustrates me when watching sometimes.
