Revenge: Luke, The Silver Knight

Garo – Vanishing Line Season 1 Episode 8 “Knight” – Luke and the Silver Knight

We learn the Silver Knight was the person who trained Luke and also is the person who killed his mother. It isn’t said why, but what is clear is that the Silver Knight wasn’t the person he once was. Something snapped in him which made him crave competition and fights and has left him a bit hollow. Though, with him just being a shell of rage, with no filter dealing with compassion, he is able to easily destroy Luke. Almost to the point, we are led to believe he may just kill him.

My Equal: Sword, The Silver Knight, Sophie

Meanwhile, Sword is making sure Sophie is safe. Which, physically, she is fine, but mentally she is going to be severely messed up for a while. Be it because of the guilt of thinking she is responsible for the Sister’s death alongside seeing her killed so violently. But with her now within the care of Fei Long, Sword, and Meifang, she should be okay. Who knows about the rest of the kids, but Sophie will be cool.

Now, as for the Silver Knight? Well, while Luke may get his behind whooped, Sword is a physical specimen. On top of that, he has the ability to become the Golden Knight so he damn near kills the Silver Knight. But, a last minute retreat keeps him from death.

Question(s) Left Unanswered

  1. Did Sword’s younger sibling die within the high school thanks to a horror?
  2. What led to the Silver Knight turning on his people?
  3. Is El Dorado the home of horrors? The ones who were chasing Sophie and Meifang seemed like they were on a retrieval mission vs. trying to kill the two.

Highlights

Quality Action

Garo – Vanishing Line Season 1 Episode 8 “Knight” – Sword and Silver Knight

Thankfully, that shaky camera from the first episode is gone and what we get is one which conveys the amount of movement that is going on, but isn’t so jarring. Also, while we may not see every blow and are left in awe, there is the kind of action often missing in action shows this season. We get more than a few taps and you’re done. There is back and forth, building destructions, madness, and the belief that it could perhaps go either way and someone may not live after all is said and done.

A Bit More About The Knight Organization

Though it remains relatively unclear how one becomes a Makai Knight or Alchemist, how does one become a Silver, Gold, and the other specialty knights, much less who runs the organization, with each peer behind how they react to situations, an eyebrow is raised. It makes you even more curious and builds up hype. Which, at this point, I think could very well pay off. Especially since we have seen Luke’s training for it and at this point, I can imagine Sophie demanding to be able to get trained as well. Just so she doesn’t end up in that helpless position again watching someone she loves get killed.
