Recommended: Some of the best seen movies we have ever watched and mentioned to friends, family, and strangers as films that need to be seen.

Positive (Worth Seeing): Whether you’ll have to go to the movies, download or stream, movies of this category are worth your time and money with few, if any, qualms from us.

Mixed (Divisive): Due to this movie having a few quirks, of which may work for some and for others be a problem, we believe your enjoyment of this movie will depend on your taste.

Negative (Acquired Taste): While one or two elements kept us going until the end, unfortunately, we’re of the opinion this film never reached the potential it was marketed to have.

Streaming Tags

Netflix Original Movies: Films that, primarily, are Netflix originals, or were found on Netflix and should still be on the platform.

Amazon Prime – Movies: Films only available with an Amazon Prime subscription.

Special Categories/ Tags

Indie: By our definition, independent films are films you have to seek to find due to limited availability or lack of a marketing push.

Film Festival: Featured in this tag are films and shorts which were discovered thanks to various film festivals, so some of the productions may not have wide availability but still may deserve to be on your watch.

Shorts: Be it ten or fifteen minutes, these quick teases or films that get right to the point, often show the potential of filmmakers and the actors who have joined them in their journey.

Blood Ties – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Overview In this story of two brothers, one a cop and another a convict, you get what seems like a Martin Scorsese inspired movie which lacks stars but tries to emulate his storytelling. Trigger Warning(s): Rape like circumstance Review (with Spoilers) It is amazing to me how a film starring such actresses like Marion Cotillard, Mila Kunis, and Zoe Saldana can really just go under the radar and no one notices. Their names, as well as Clive Owens, make this film seem like something which would have been released in the fall and geared toward Oscar nominations. Instead, though, it was released in the spring as an independent feature, leaving you to wonder: why? Community Rating: 55.49% (1)

The Angriest Man in Brooklyn – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Overview If you enjoy Robin Williams showing that not only is he past his prime, but desperately trying to relive his glory days, watch this. Review (with Spoilers) I’m not exactly sure what happened to Robin Williams over the years which made him so difficult to watch. Have directors just stopped trying to do their jobs and decided to just let him run amok? Does Williams more so care about getting steady work and a paycheck? Or is it his agent hopes that, like Christopher Walken, Williams will find himself either the silver lining in rather odd, and arguably bad movies, or maybe even luck himself into indie classics? Either way, I don’t know what happened but I’m starting to think he should give up starring in any sort of production and just remain a supporting player. Cesar Chavez – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Overview For every struggle, there is a leader, and for the farm workers of California, that leader was Cesar Chavez. Review (with Spoilers) Admittedly, though the name of Cesar Chavez was certainly familiar before seeing this film, what drew me to watching this was mostly Rosario Dawson and America Ferrera who, outside of the occasional appearance on The Good Wife, I haven’t seen much of since Ugly Betty was cancelled/ ended. But it should be noted that while they are participants in the film, the star is Michael Pena who plays Cesar Chavez. Community Rating: 0.00% (0) - No Community Ratings Submitted.

August: Osage County – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Overview If a soap opera was given a movie after being canceled, it would be something like August: Osage County. Review (with Spoilers) Just the name of the cast is what should easily draw you to the film. You have Meryl Streep, who even in that movie with Roseanne was good; Ewan McGregor, who is pretty consistent; and alongside them you have Julia Roberts; Chris Cooper; little Abigail Breslin, who ain’t so little no more; and then you have Juliette Lewis; Benedict Cumberbatch; and Julianne Nicholson, who plays Dr. DePaul on Masters of Sex.
