It’s the night of UDC’s presentation, and everyone is in position – will Charles notch another kill?

Storyline Recap
I Dream Of Nuria – Nuria, Alvaro, Marisa, Charles
After getting into position in the theater’s ceiling, while Charles awaits UDC’s presentation a day letter, he dreams of how he met Nuria while she was working as a waitress. This happens as her brother, Alvaro, seeks to “borrow” money from Charles, with Marisa encouraging the act, even though Charles isn’t informed. Mind you, he watches all this happen, and you’re left to wonder how he might react when he returns home.
Operation Anubis – Bianca, Vince, Osita
Knowing UDC is a target, Bianca, Vince, and Osita get setup with a command center and get to work. They investigate anyone and everyone who may have seen Charles, get a sketch artist, breach his Air BNB in hopes of finding him, all to no avail.
As of the event, while they may get close enough to see Charles, they walk right over him as he hides in the upper levels, with no one even smelling the bottles he has filled with pee. Never mind what he may have done with his other output.
Shots Fired – Bianca, Vince, Charles, UDC, Rasmus
So, the stage is set, UDC walks out, and Bianca and Vince stand to the side, waiting to do what needs to be done. However, rather than the shot that aims for UDC being fired by Charles, it is someone else, with Charles trying to fire a shot to complete the mission and him failing.
This is immensely frustrating for him since it is likely one of his few failures. So, while he escapes with no one the wiser, with Rasmus drawing attention to him as he tries to get further from the theater, Charles kills him and leaves him on the street. Whether this was simply for calling out to him and not letting him walk away or out of pure frustration is hard to say, but that isn’t the only question worth asking. You must also ask about Charles’ next move, never mind his employers.
New Character Descriptions
Alvaro
Alvaro is Nuria’s brother. He dreams of becoming something but doesn’t seem to have the ability to do so with his own money or efforts. So, with his knowledge, he appears to be banking on Charles to use his wealth to get a leg up.
Marisa
Marisa is Nuria’s mother, and she seems fine with Charles when things are good between him and her daughter. However, as soon as there is a need to question things, she is ready to plant seeds that Charles is untrue and push her daughter to divorce Charles and take as much money as she can in said divorce.
Review
Highlights
The Intensity While Waiting For Charles to Take His Shot | 85/100
With three episodes left, and a second season commissioned, whether Charles would make his shot or not was worth questioning. UDC would be a major target to kill and his death could lead to major questions of how the first season would end, never mind create a reason for the second. But, even with that in mind, the cinematography and performances made for a tense moment that showed those involved know how to sell a moment, whether it is high-octane or the audience expected to wait on bated breath.
Charles’ Love For Nuria | 81/100
Charles’s love story isn’t necessarily a selling point for “The Day Of The Jackal,” as Nuria may have her place, but her family alternates between being questionable inclusions to blemishes. However, there is something still about this killer having a love for a woman who could potentially be his undoing or his savior. She plays a wildcard, which will eventually be used in an effort to capture Charles, but whether she aids or saves is hard to say.
All that I can say for sure is that the potential for heartbreak is there – even if we did just see Charles cheat on his wife with a man.
On The Fence
What Comes Next | 75/100
Learning that this show will extend into a second season now creates an issue. Most action shows of this nature thrive as limited series because there is a sense of no spillover. Each episode has to be great, for there won’t be more, but now, with a possible additional 10 episodes, that means things can be stretched out, likely for the worse.
Already, we’ve seen issues with how Charles’ scenes are compared to Bianca’s, especially if we talk about consistency. But now, with UDC not being killed, Charles’ employers paying millions and expecting results, and Bianca once again missing Charles despite being in the same area, there is the feeling this show could easily slip into a pattern.
We understand this is a cat-and-mouse game, but like any back-and-forth, there comes a point when the game becomes tired, and someone has to lose. I fear the audience will be the loser if this goes on too long, for this story doesn’t seem like the type that has legs to go on for multiple seasons, even if things end at two.
