Candy accepting her trophy.

  1. What an episode! And how sad it is that is that unlike, say, the story line of “Madonna’s song is getting us noticed”, the issue of black trans women being killed was as prevalent back in 1990 as it is today. And I’m glad they didn’t show us Candy’s murder. I feel like this show is too high in quality to stoop to “Criminal Minds”/”Law and Order SVU”s level.

I was surprised too that Elektra didn’t get a scene with Candy. There is so much history between the two of them. Speaking of Elektra, I don’t know why I noticed this, but she seems to be relying on Blanca a lot lately (or maybe dumping everything on Blanca lately). First, after the death of her client, she rushed to Blanca for help. Then, when Candy’s parents arrived, she made Blanca deal with them. It’s like Blanca is the mother and she is the daughter.

And I really enjoyed the scene of the meeting about the business of the balls. I love peeks behind the curtain, so to speak. And Pray Tell was throwing out one-liners and comebacks which were so funny! I hope they have another scene like that in a later episode.
