Storylines

Season 1 Storylines

Finding Maria Delgado’s Killer (Main)

After Maria’s murder in the opening of season 1, half of the season focuses on finding her killer, Maniac. The second half deals with the fallout of Maniac’s removal and how this causes strife within the East Barrio organization, especially for Smokey.

Gabe’s Life In Danger & Ava’s Hatred Of Cops (Side Story)

After taking down Maniac, Smokey puts a hit on Gabe, who is in prison, and this only furthers Ava’s hatred of cops, which was born before Alex even joined the force. However, thanks to Harmon, Gabe gets moved to a different facility, with no information circulating to where he is, leaving us to assume he is safe.

Jen’s Life On The Streets (Side Story)

Jen is a touchy subject for Harmon due to what she put her and their mother through, but Alex introduces Harmon to a place where Jen could get better. Unfortunately, however, we don’t know if she will stick with the program as she hasn’t shown up again after walking into the location that could help her.

Long Beach PD Being Sued (Side Story)

In episode 2, many are doing donuts and having an unsanctioned event that leads to the cops being called. With there being no violence, Harmon and the others don’t break it up. However, things escalate when Lasman and others get attacked, but even then, the party isn’t shut down – leading to some property damage that causes a lawsuit.

Noteworthy Information

  • Why Everyone Hates Harmon (1.5): Sergeant Lasman formerly had a partner who used to go a bit too hard during calls, and one time Harmon got involved and shoved. She did NOT file a complaint, yet Sergeant Lasman’s partner and those who tried to cover up the incident got fired. In addition, it is believed that the incident is why Sergeant Lasman didn’t become a lieutenant; instead, Bishop got the promotion. To make matters worse, Internal Affairs (IA) sealed the investigation, so Harmon had no means to prove that she didn’t want anything to happen.
  • Season Time length (1.8): Since this is Alex’s 60-day review, 60 days passed from episode 1 to episode 8.
