“Is it wrong to try to pick up hot springs in a dungeon” just gives us a quick reminder of who is who and doesn’t press the story forward.

Episode Focus: Time for Some Hot Springs Action (Bell, Mikoto, Chigusa, Asfi, Hermes, Hestia, Ouka and Ryuu)

Another day, another adventure in the dungeon, but this is after Ouka got injured so no one is really trying to do anything strenuous. So upon the discovery of a hot springs, everyone seeks to chill out. However, with a monster causing the water to turn acidic, clothes disappears and the monsters attack. But, being that Bell has that fireball spell, and the elf Ryuu was on guard the whole time, the whole hot springs adventure just becomes another story to tell.

Commentary

I appreciate that the show is this returning and with something light. Mostly because, for a lot of shows, especially anime, have gaps between episodes big enough where you don’t remember names, what happened the last episode, or anything. This show, for example, is touching upon two years since its first season. So with it coming back and just letting us hear each character’s name and mostly focusing on their personalities, I appreciated that. For now, even if you aren’t necessarily sure of all what happened in the first season, you at least got a feel for the characters.

Granted, I wouldn’t say anything you see in this episode would tempt you to check out the first season, for the first time or again, but Is It Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? wasn’t necessarily the best anime out there during Spring 2015. It was certainly likable, but I’d still put Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash ahead of it if you want an RPG style anime which features a dungeons and dragons type vibe.
