Tracker (S01E06) Review/ Recap
Colter’s main competition as a rewardist, Billie, is introduced, and part of their sordid history.
Plot Recap
An Old Frenemy – Billie, Colter
Approximately five years ago in Miami, during what is known as the MacPherson case, Billie and Colter worked together. It didn’t end well due to Billie leaving him high and dry in a dangerous situation.
In Billie’s defense, Colter was condescending and deserved a comeuppance, hence her attitude and how she treated him. This isn’t to downplay her learning a few things, some of which inspired her to look into her own tech and means of cutting out additional hands in her operation. But, in the end, the relationship was soured.
Fast forward to the present day, and Billie and Colter compete for a $250,000 reward to find a horse named Argo. Before a notable race, someone stole the horse, a prize champion, and all the owners want him back. This leads to a notable investigation in which the personal life of Argo’s daily carers is questioned due to a recently finalized divorce. Then there is the question of what the other owners may have done? One is just the money man, another does the admin work, and then there are the carers, so why would any of them steal this prized horse?
Well, the answer is insurance. The owner who does the admin work has been pumping Argo full of steroids to the point Argo is infertile, and with a slew of injuries, Argo is pretty much past its prime and requires drugs that should disqualify him from performing. The admin owner knew this, paid off the veterinarian, and who knows who else – so he ends up taking the fall, but not before murdering a trainer and threatening to kill Billie and Colter when they learn the truth.
However, Colter and Billie know how to fight, so they disarm and take down the part owner. However, then comes the issue of the reward. With the admin doing what he did to Argo, so comes the FBI and many others who decide to freeze assets during their investigation, which means this all has to be written off as a good deed for now, with the reward being Billie and Colter’s relationship healing, as well as Argo’s caregivers since, before the dissolution of their marriage, keeping Argo in racing shape seemingly was the crux that split them apart.

New Character Description(s)
Billie
Billie is Colter’s main rival in being a rewardist. From what we learn, the two met once before, five years ago, and she learned a lot from him. However, the job ended on a sordid note, and it seems while she might be less experienced, she has gained not only a reputation but a prowess that makes it so, even with Colter having a notable team backing him, Billie’s deductive skills, amongst other things, still makes her a threat when it comes to getting large rewards.

On The Fence
Hitting A Plateau
While meeting the illustrious Billie gave a minor boost, there was something about hinting that there was something romantic between her and Colter that took something away from her. Maybe it is because we already have Reenie, and the push to make Colter a bit of a lady’s man feels like a distraction. Maybe it is because, when it comes to Billie, with so much focus on her and Colter’s chemistry, how she seemingly works on her own and is considered a rival wasn’t dove into – thus causing a missed opportunity?
It’s hard to say, but with the characters who filled the case this week being forgettable and Billie not getting to live up to her reputation fully, it feels like we may have experienced the peak of what “Tracker” has to offer, and now the question becomes, are we going downhill or hitting a plateau?
