It’s time to meet the ladies’ exes and considering how this has gone in the past, the potential for drama is high.

Plot Recap

Unlike seasons in the past, the exes don’t bring a lot of drama. Yes, Patrice’s ex asks shocking questions, but it is only shocking because of the audacity to ask someone what they don’t like about someone else. But, beyond him? Justin gets uncomfortable when meeting Mya’s ex because of the push she is very much about a man’s finances. Laron gets tripped up because not only did Mieka not bring an ex, she brought Tommy, and Laron learns Mieka is anti her man playing video games all day.

But, on a more positive note, we finally see what led to what looked like Alonzo proposing to Patrice: The short answer is, he was just playing and was going to tie his shoe. However, in the long answer, he really pulls out a wonderful date by shutting down a museum and spending some quality time with her.

Yet, despite this grand date, he ends up in the bottom two with Domonique, who, across the board, the ladies felt wasn’t doing too much. In fact, one forgot he was still part of the show. But between the two, since Alonzo has connections like Patrice, and clearly is willing to make an effort, even do grand gestures, he gets to stay.

Predictions

  1. Next Eliminated (Men): Laron is overdue to be back in the bottom 2, and I think William is likely to join him, but Laron should go.
  2. Next Eliminated (Women): Rasheena and Vanessa are likely to be at the bottom, and Rasheena is likely to be eliminated since her connections don’t seem strong enough to keep her in the game.
  3. Final Couples: Chaz and Vanessa, Patrice and somebody, and I think the last would-be finalist will end in rejection.

The Exes Helped More Than Acted A Fool

Having exes introduced has long been a crap shot for “Ready To Love” as it could push the idea that the ex is in waiting, something may still be going on, or they could be a problem – whether or not they share kids with a cast member. But, this time around, there wasn’t any drama or red flags. Whether it was Rasheena’s ex, who she shares a kid with; Patrice’s, who was asking pertinent questions; or Mya’s, who made it clear money is a factor in dating her, they provided insight to both sides and seemed to live up to the intentions of this seasonal theme.

Low Points

How Is Laron Not In The Bottom 2?!

I do not mean to come off like I’m picking on Laron, but I feel like him not being in the bottom two repeatedly doesn’t make sense. It seems he loses a potential connection by the episode, and considering the party boy comments, how he upset Koshiea during the pajama episode, and not appearing to be anyone’s top, I don’t get it.

Ready To Love (S09E08) Review

Summary

As of now, this might be the most mature season of “Ready To Love,” and while the caveat of that is it hasn’t been the most entertaining or romantic, at the very least, there is the idea that these people are grown and, towards the end, aren’t geared towards crafting drama.
