Harmon makes a breakthrough, but to get there, she has to work outside the lines and even take out her shotgun.

Recap
With Delgado’s memorial finally happening, Harmon is willing to maybe be a bit out of bounds for justice. Luckily for her, during a domestic violence call, she gets one lead that becomes another, and eventually, she believes she has the motel Maniac is at. With that, she calls it in and ends up having to fire her weapon, a shotgun at that, for the first time.
She even had the opportunity to kill Maniac but showed restraint—a good thing, too, since Lasman was the first on the scene after Harmon chased Maniac down into an abandoned Walmart. But, at the very least, it seems she has gained some respect for getting Maniac, even if the Lieutenant may have questions about how she did what a task force could not.

Trajectory (82/100): Plateau
There is a lot beyond the surface when it comes to Harmon, which is really driving long-term interest. From a sister who used to be a cop to her secretive phone conversations, with Maniac captured and us halfway through the season, I think it might be safe to say “On Call” could continue to be good without relying on the search for Delgado’s killer.
Now, could I eat my words with episode 5? Possibly. But I’d like to think they never really made the East Barrio gang or Maniac such a strong focal point that the show needed them or the storyline of a cop killer. It has long been about Harmon, her relationships, and what I wouldn’t say are secrets but information about her that she doesn’t readily express.
