Episode Focus: Follow The Breadcrumbs | Grandpa, Juri, Majima,

Story-wise, we don’t really get much. Juri and Grandpa expel a few more people from stasis as Makoto and Tsubasa wander, and Takafumi is tasked with perhaps cutting a deal for the stone. Sagawa is nowhere to be found and so that just leaves Grandpa and Majima explaining a few details over. Primarily, Grandpa explains that Juri has been in stasis before and that she has long had this power to expel people. In fact, when he took her to stasis when her dog, Andre, died, she nearly expelled him when he tried to get her to leave.

As for Majima, it seems we’ll have to wait one more episode for her backstory but she does reveal Heralds are humans and that there are more than likely multiple ones throughout the stasis. However, as usual, she doesn’t lay out the full details, just provides a gist, so we’re still left in the dark a little bit.

Commentary

Mr. Kato asking Majima's opinion on the situation at hand.I’m left with so many questions. One being, does having powers usually skip a generation? Also, why are so many of the non-Genuine Love Society people so keen on raping or assaulting women? On top of that, considering yet another person was killed by a Herald, where will their specter go?

Alongside that question is, how did the folks at the Genuine Love Society learn their stone is a one-way ticket? Could it be Majima is the only one who knows that? Also, could it be that stone is actually Majima’s family stone that Sagawa’s people stole? Oh, and could it be the only reason she was able to escape stasis was Juri? Meaning that death doesn’t come from being violently expelled?

Speculation aside, you know a peaceful resolution of everyone using the master stone, since Sagawa’s is a one way stone, isn’t going to happen. So, what’s end game here? Sharing is not going to happen, otherwise, the kidnapping would have never happened, and considering Sagawa hired people strictly to kill whoever got in his way, even if Juri expels them on, there will never be peace.

Think about it, how are you going to explain the situation? A weird cult group took us to a place where time stopped but we can only approve of it if you touch this stone and come with us? That would make things worse. Heck, probably put people in a madhouse. Much less, it would be your word against theirs. A poor family vs. the Genuine Love Society who seems well connected, has money, and clout.

So, when we hit episode 6, maybe that is when the show will be done with laying out a foundation and truly will begin.

  1. It is a compelling mystery but I am more and more concerned about whether the answers we get will ever be satisfying given how complicated things are getting.
