Ernesti faces his first defeat by means of a draw, but seemingly the finale will be the ultimate battle between Ernesti and Lord Gojass.

Beware the Vyver: Ernesti, Doloteo

For the first time in his career, Ernesti goes into battle and doesn’t lose, but does find himself evenly matched. Something which both sides find frustrating for with all this firepower, Doloteo, who commands the Vyver thought he could avenge his prince. Alas, between maneuverability, and some help from Addy, Ernesti survives to fight another day.

Taking Back the Capital: Eleonora, Ernesti, Lord Gojass

Despite what some may consider a defeat, Ernesti is inspired by this setback. This was the first real challenge and with Lord Gojass figuring out a way to stop Ernesti’s knight from flying, he forces him to adapt. Yet, will it be enough?

Especially as now, Lord Gojass is entering the next battle with this huge “Blood Grail” energy reactor. Something he believes will outlast and overpower anything Ernesti could come up with. Though, don’t count Ernesti out just yet. Queen Eleonora has faith in him. Even to the point of proclaiming they stage the next battle close to the former capital Delvancul and perhaps end the tyranny of Zaloudek once and for all.

Criticism

It Honestly Feels Like Too Little, Too Late

The first battle that Ernesti didn’t dominate, know his subordinates, happened in the penultimate episode. Wow. That really makes the finale sound interesting, doesn’t it? Us getting to see Ernesti comeback after suffering a draw. One in which he wasn’t even the first one to retreat from.

But, I guess, in the long run, the idea behind the show is watching mechs actually fight each other rather than shooting projectiles long range. For even though that is part of the show, arguably the highlight is seeing mech on mech action like you hardly see. Well, maybe I hardly see.

However, I really can’t get past how quickly Zaloudek is being squashed and their forces being made to look pathetic. To the point, I don’t even see Lord Gojass dangerous, yet massive, ether reactor as a real game changer. I just see it as something which will be fireworks in the background as the narrator proclaims Ernesti’s victory before we see his face on some waving flag. Learning that, eventually, Ernesti took over multiple kingdoms and left everyone at his mercy.

  1. ” I just see it as something which will be fireworks in the background as the narrator proclaims Ernesti’s victory before we see his face on some waving flag.” Agree. And your follow up statement kind of reflects my thoughts on this episode which I’m still drafting but essentially I’m wondering if Ernesti is meant to be seen as a villain. He certainly has many villainous characteristics.

    1. He’s exploitive, seemingly is forgetting his place, and seems more unhinged as time goes on. But he is a kid forced to grow up.
