A guide for the movie “The Hater.” Included are noted cast members, information about their character, and other additional details.
Please Note: This content contains pertinent spoilers, and this is not an exhaustive list of every cast member.
Tomek (Maciej Musialowski)
When we meet Tomek, he just got kicked out of law school and spends his days working at clearing social media posts for an unnamed company. However, his ultimate goal is to win the love of Gabi, the daughter of the people who provided him a scholarship by any means possible.
Gabi (Vanessa Aleksander)
The daughter of Zofia and Robert, as well as their second child, who is the focus of Tomek’s affections. As for who she is outside of his purview? She enjoys art, is slightly troubled, but when we meet her, she took a gap year to get her life together and is slowly prepping for her next chapter.
Zofia (Danuta Stenka)
A curator who, like her husband Robert, is very interested in the next election as she fears a nationalist uprising and them taking over the government.
Robert (Jacek Koman)
Zofia’s husband, Gabi’s father, who, like his wife, is very invested in the politics of Poland and the campaign of Pawel’s specifically.
Guzek (Adam Gradowski)
Guzek is a nationalist who takes care of his senile grandmother, loves MMOs, as well as guns. He also becomes a key part of Tomek’s job at BestBuzz PR.
Beata (Agata Kulesza)
One of the directors of BestBuzz PR, who gives Tomek a chance to do a smear campaign and after getting good results the first time around, she assigns him with taking down a politician. A job which leads to him going down a dark path and her, while at first enabling him, eventually becoming privy to how far he will go to accomplish his goals. Which, in some ways, both disturbs and intrigues her.
Staszel (Jedrzej Wielecki)
BestBuzz PR’s client in terms of taking down Pawel, who is a senator and father, not necessarily a member of the nationalist party, but certainly one not as progressive as Pawel wishes to be.
Pawel (Maciej Stuhr)
An up and coming politician who is single, rumored to be gay, and is considered a bit too progressive for the nationalist of the country and the more conservative politicians, like Staszel.
