How Did It End?

Kayla gets through all five levels of the game, Curs>r, which unfortunately includes losing Isaac along the way. But, by defeating the “Final Boss,” the father from the beginning of the film, she is considered worthy of benefiting from the curse the game causes. Meaning, good things will come to her based on the suffering and trauma of others. She is told this by Beck when the two talk, and she tests this on Lance, who, after making him suffer, Kayla’s injuries from her boss battle heal.

However, unlike Beck, who is indiscriminate regarding who he will push to play the game or hurt, Kayla vows to only punish those who deserve it.

Is There Sequel/ Prequel Potential?

Yes and no. Kayla doesn’t vow to take down Beck and doesn’t even make it seem she may try to break the curse. However, she could always change her mind as someone new is deemed worthy or if Beck decides to come after her, if not create additional levels. However, the film’s ending doesn’t push the idea that a sequel is built in.

As for a prequel? We see Beck make and test Curs>r, so that seems unlikely. Plus, even when it comes to the evil spirit, demon, or whatever that is in the game, it didn’t seem the film was that interested in diving into who it is, so I can’t imagine a prequel built around that.
