Episode 5 “Wig Ghost” Recap (With Spoilers)
Wanna Try Touching Me Again?: Yoshiki, Hikaru
The homoeroticism continues as Yoshiki compares touching raw chicken to being inside Hikaru, and with this comparison, he offers him the chance to go inside him again. It’s weird, they do it in a closed room at school, and this time, Hikaru tries to touch Yoshiki back.
This isn’t appreciated at all since the way Hikaru tries to touch Yoshiki back feels uncomfortable. It’s like Parasyte, where he is crawling inside of Hikaru, up towards his brain, which he doesn’t like at all. But, in his defense, Hikaru wanted to experiment with touch just as much as Yoshiki.
A Whole Lot Of Prep: Tanaka, Takeda

Tanaka continues to get on Takeda’s nerves with not making it clear what he is doing, why he is doing things the way he is, and his ignorance, if not indifference, to local culture. But, while a part of him hates Tanaka, it seems that the destruction he brings, he secretly likes. It is hard to say why, beyond maybe being too afraid to question, rebel, or destroy things himself, but the more he is around Tanaka, the more disgruntled he seems to be.
The Wig Ghost: Yoshiki, Hikaru, Kaoru
A ghost made of hair appears in Yoshiki’s bathroom and creeps out Kaoru to the point she refuses to bathe. As you can imagine, this is another issue for the household, so Hikaru coming in quickly to handle the situation is a blessing. However, in fighting this being, he nearly gets drowned by Yoshiki.
How and why? Well, the “Wig Ghost” possesses him, and as Yoshiki replays a memory of him and Hikaru fighting, he nearly kills his friend. Luckily, Hikaru is aware of his powers enough to defeat the Wig Ghost, but not kill it, and not cause serious damage to Yoshiki.
Thus, leaving nothing more for the day than the two having dinner with Yoshiki’s family and Hikaru joking about being taller than Yoshiki someday.

Highlights
The Creep Factor/ What These Supernatural Beings Are Looking To Do [83/100]
Between it seeming like whatever took over Hikaru was going to enter Yoshiki, as he stuck half his arm into him, to the fight with the Wig Ghost, things got weird in the best way. Now, did we get the type of battle we were hoping for between Hikaru and the Wig Ghost? No. But it did use Yoshiki in such a way to make you wonder if they may repeatedly seek out Yoshiki as a means to attack Hikaru?

Granted, it isn’t clear if the Wig Ghost chose Yoshiki’s bathroom in hopes he would draw Hikaru there, but who is to say Hikaru is the only intelligent one amongst the supernatural? Never mind, considering how the Wig Ghost tapped into Yoshiki’s mind, who is to say this is the last time we’ll see something freaky either?
On The Fence
Hoping Things Pick Up With Tanaka [74/100]
Am I the only one who feels like Tanaka is a bit of a letdown? Yeah, he is weird and surely capable of doing notable things, but I feel like he hasn’t gotten his chance to shine, and all these random situations, like hair attacking Yoshiki’s family, Tanaka should be handling stuff like that.
Thus far, we’ve seen him only handle a being possessing floor boards, or something similar, and erecting a barrier. To me, he should be taking on something strong, to boost his position, and make him into a real threat for right now, him damaging altars and playing with a hamster isn’t doing much for him beyond firmly making him look eccentric.
Overall
Our Overall Rating [78/100]
While the Wig Ghost and Hikaru’s usual antics are keeping things going, The Summer Hikaru Died is still in need of a threat or something notable to happen.
