Sam topples a slew of dominoes leading to a massive fight. Alongside that, Colin makes a discovery which rocks his relationship with Melody.

A Long Line of Colins: Colin, Melody
It’s eviction day! Everyone has to move out of the hospital because it is being demolished and while packing Colin discovers something. He learns that Melody has been painting men that looked like him for awhile. Something which bothers him deeply. Yet, it also triggers something in Melody too. She questions why is Colin with her? He won’t let her touch him, be intimate, and with this situation, she questions whether it is time to split[note]She is heading to Poland to live with a friend.[/note].
However, that ultimatum sparks something in Colin. That quiet man decides to take charge and Melody takes notice. She even dresses in proper attire for him. For there is now this desire to make things right. Perhaps not in the way which works for everyone but definitely works for them.
Commentary
I’m going to skip over the whole “She was drawing her naked father” thing because, I don’t know how to process that. It is one of those things which seems thrown out there to just reestablish, no matter how polished she can look, she is still a weirdo. Which I get but, I just don’t know.
So, setting that aside, I like that Colin has finally stepped up and Melody gave him time to heal. But, after a certain point, wanted him to be aggressive, not make it so she constantly feels like she is just chasing him, you know? For with her putting on a dress and all that, it sort of pushed the idea that maybe she wants to be this eccentric painter and someone like Colin. Someone who gets dressed up to go to places, maybe go to work, and yet still has this person or place where she can be her true self. Where she can pull her hair into a messy bun, get dirty with paint, and drink a little. Say some off-kilter stuff and it not lead to some wild side eye.
For I think, in the long run, assuming her dad is a factor in all this, maybe Melody has similar issues to Lulu. She is seeking someone who can be like the family she didn’t have. She wants someone boring after dealing with all the expressive and eccentric people she grew up with.
So She’s Pretending that She Isn’t Pretending?: Kate, Anthony, Lulu
Kate wakes up and says she loves Anthony. This is followed by her either legit not remembering the night before, or doubling down on her pretending. Either way, Anthony is confused and unsure how to proceed? He believes he knows the truth but doesn’t know if it is best to confront it.
But while the love question lingers, the next move for the two doesn’t. Kate doesn’t want to do another guardianship, she wants a flat. One in which Lulu isn’t invited to join.
Which is something Anthony is agreeing to, to try to recover the relationship. However, when it is revealed he was trying to seriously cock-block Lulu from messing around with Sam, red flags get raised. Especially when he punches Sam over it.
Commentary
It’s hard to imagine a reconciliation between Kate and Anthony, and it is hard to say I’d even want it. There is nothing about these two you want to see fought for. They aren’t cute together, don’t balance each other out like Melody and Colin, they seem engaged just because.
For Kate, it is just because he asked her out, he was cute, and it wasn’t like anyone else of interest was doing so. Then for Anthony, it was just because she was a come up. For while we haven’t met any of Anthony’s exes, considering his fondness of Lulu, arguably they haven’t given much besides a laugh. Which, perhaps at his age, he realizes can’t be enough anymore. He needs a partner with ambition, stability, and can center him a bit. Hence Kate.
But what is logical or convenient doesn’t seem to translate to romance for these two. Making you wonder if they could survive into another season.
Just Admit You’re Gay: Sam, Will, Fred
Will has officially grown tired of Sam, the hospital, and Fred’s friends. He is the type of guy who gets what he wants and he wants Fred. But living in a skanky hospital is just pushing him to the edge. For, you see, Will isn’t as nice as he seems. He puts on the mask and it fits well, but really he is an ass. One possibly worse than Sam since, at the very least, Sam is upfront about who he is.
But, the issue remains: Why is Sam so cheeky and flirty with Fred? Will thinks it is because he is gay but Sam still refuses to come out with that.
Commentary
Will’s 180 completely threw me off. It is the type of move which makes you think that, as good and interesting as the character was, the actor signed a limited deal and couldn’t extend it. So, just to ruin the character and make you not want them back another season, they make you suddenly hate them. Which worked marvelously.
But the real thing to peer at here is Fred and Sam. For when Sam calls Will, on the Samaritan line, Will really picks apart Sam and it helps you realize that even if Sam isn’t gay, he desires intimacy. Something which, perhaps, due to his usual persona, most women don’t give him. Be it because they are just looking for a good time or because they aren’t interested. Though, we could also factor maybe he has a harder time opening up to women?
Either way, it is undeniable that something about Fred has gotten under Sam’s skin. But whether this eviction may lead him to confront those feelings is hard to say. Much less, whether he’ll confess them to Fred. Someone who certainly wouldn’t mind hearing something truly real and straight forward out of Sam’s mouth.
