You Hurt Shio: Shio, Satou
After the boys get tired of Taiyo, they notice Shio and realize she is the girl in the missing person’s poster. Leading to them wondering about a reward but with realizing that isn’t likely, instead they figure they can use her to draw out Asahi and beat on him again. However, before that plan can be put into action Satou finds them and decides to gorge their eyes out.
Adults Can Be Cruel: Satou, Shio, Kitaumekawa
We finally learn who that woman with her face scratched out was. That was Shio’s mom. The person who helped her escape her abusive father but now we are left questioning if she might have been mentally or emotionally abusive.
As for Satou? Well, it becomes very clear her aunt was abused by someone. What remains unclear though is whatever happened to her aunt. There is blood on the walls in one room but with us not knowing where Shio’s mom is, alongside Satou’s aunt’s abuser, it’s hard to say whose blood that is. The only thing clear is that it is dried blood so it has been a while since Satou might have killed them.
But, she may just want to paint over that blood since Mr. Kitaumekawa is increasingly growing curious about Satou’s home life. He calls the house daily and with no one seeing or hearing from Satou’s aunt, flags are being raised. Even at work.
Mommie Dearest: Satou, Shio, Taiyo
With Shio getting out, Satou has now added an additional lock, but it is to keep someone from getting out rather than in. Leading you to wonder, before all this, what led to Satou becoming quite good around the house? That thought aside, it seems after her excursion outside, Shio is now willing and able to keep secrets from Satou. For example, she doesn’t talk about seeing her mom or the portrait of her she made in her closet. Also, she doesn’t mention speaking to Taiyo outside. Which may be for the best since Taiyo now has Shio’s missing person’s poster all over his room. Making it seem he is worryingly obsessed.
As for Satou? While the lock shows she still has some screws loose, other than that she continues to be like a big sister or like a crazed Mommie Dearest
Commentary
It’s kind of weird how so much can happen yet it also feels like barely anything happened at all. We got a few details about Shio’s mom and Satou’s aunt, but everything else was just a carryover from the last episode. But considering my thoughts on the latest episode of How Not To Summon a Demon Lord, I think I’m just not much for transition episodes. Which essentially this is. For with us finally seeing Shio’s mom’s face, a glimpse into Satou’s aunt’s life, and us learning of yet another person obsessed with Satou, never mind Asashi hearing Shio’s cry, it’s all about things to come. Not to forget, Taiyo’s twisted obsession with Shio becoming worse.
But, at the very least, Satou is still crazy and this show is maintaining its weird appeal.

- While the episode itself is kind of “meh,” it is setting up for what comes ahead.
