Recap
So Many Lies And Such Much Effort To Pretend Things Are Okay – Marco, Giulia, Margherita, Carlo, Eva
Margherita is reaching her limit. She wants to reconcile with Carlo, but it’s hard to figure out what can be their way back? Especially since Eva can recognize something is wrong and pretending to be perfect around Giulia and Marco? It’s increasingly frustrating. Add in Margherita learning her father cheated on her mother? It makes her wonder is it even worth it to work things out?
The Beginning Of The End – Margherita, Andrea, Carlo, Sofia, Leonardo
She presents this to Carlo, her frustrations, and also her lingering feelings regarding Sofia, and he seems almost as exasperated as she is. And maybe that’s why, after Sofia breaks up with Leonardo, and she tries again to be with Carlo and even picks a secluded spot for them to talk, they kiss passionately, far longer than before. But while his body may call out to Sofia, it seems Carlo’s heart may still belong to Margherita.
Too bad for him, Margherita is ready to cheat as her husband did. For as Sofia decides enough is enough, and she’ll truly quit school this time, Margherita watches Andrea fight in some underground competition. And as she goes home with him, or to her own, and gets intimate with Andrea, Carlo is seemingly being arrested. Why? Well, for trespassing in a closed park, lacking ID, and coming off suspicious.
Question(s) Left Unanswered
- Why did Franco, Margherita’s dad, cheat?
What Could Happen Next

Review
On The Fence
Still Lacking A Necessary Spark
The problem remains that Devotion lacks a hook once you get past the heavy-making sessions or Margherita getting busy in the back of a taxi. What is supposed to be the investment here? Sofia going back and forth between leaving Milan or staying? We barely know her enough to care! What about Carlo and Margherita? With their marriage going down the drain, what is it we’re supposed to latch onto? Their affairs are tepid, their individual lives lack interest, so what’s supposed to keep us going? Especially now that both are cheating with people who don’t seem like replacements but rather placeholders?
The struggle is real.
