Sin – Nanatsu no Taizai (Seven Mortal Sins): Season 1/ Episode 1 “The Proud Fallen Angel” [Series Premiere] – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)
Like many an action oriented anime focused on women fighting, you’re basically given softcore, highly censored, hentai.

The Introduction
After Lucifer falls from grace, she ends up in the bottom level of hell and Leviathan couldn’t be giddier. She sees Lucifer as someone who can not only make her a mortal sin, but also take out the current lords of the underworld who have ostracized her. But, at first, Lucifer does not care about the politics of the mortal sins. That is until she meets them and then her pride leads her to desire overthrowing them and redeeming herself for not being able to with god.
Highlights
The Action Scenes and Personality
Between Freezing, Sora no Otoshimono, Highschool of the Dead, Ikkitousen, Cross Ange to a point, and a slew of other anime I can’t think of off hand, there are a lot of anime which focus on women which have top grade fight sequences and vibrant personalities for each fighter. This show is no different. For while the ecchi is a bit extravagant, arguably the fight scenes and the personalities of each mortal sin make up for that. Well, to a point.
On The Fence
The Groping, Sucking, and More
I feel like such a prude whenever I hem and haw about ecchi being part of an anime. However, there really just comes a point where you wonder why the company didn’t just make the show a hentai since they want to include so much titillation. For between Leviathan sucking on Lucifer’s breast, seemingly fingering her [note]In the uncensored version it seems Levi’s hand were trying to get to that point, but Lucifer stopped her[/note], and of course a bunch of ass grabs, ass shots, and censored frontal nudity, it’s like, why put all this time into sexual content just to have it censored? Why not just release it as a hentai and call it a day? [note]I know the answer is money, but still[/note]
Overall: Mixed (Stick Around)
Cross Ange, within the first or second episode, had orgies, among other things, but ultimately turned out to be a good show. So, with that in mind, maybe Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai (Seven Mortal Sins) can be more than softcore hentai. I wouldn’t place any bets on it, cause there is a bit too much focus on breasts and asses jiggling, but I have been wrong before.
While I don’t usually rule out a show simply because it has fan service (or a bit more going on), this one didn’t do much for me and about midway through the first half I kind of gave up. I’ve already got an intenst watch list and given the incredible focus on the fan service moments I decided I didn’t really need to go any further.
I’ve found, over the years, fan service is usually made to compensate than to add to a program. Though sexual content, in general, I feel is used that way.
