Outside of the battle continuing from the last episode, there isn’t much going on with Re:Creators right now. Though with a 22 episode order, that explains why we end up with more exposition. Though thankfully not from Meteora.
And The Battle Continues: Selesia, Meteora, Mamika, Alice, Mirokuji, Blitz Talker
To put it simply, Mamika tries to stop everyone from fighting and even nullify each other’s attacks. However, the fighting doesn’t really stop until Kanoya shows up in his mech. With that, so begins the retreat from Altair’s people but, before exiting, Blitz Talker notes that time is running out.
But while they all battle, Mirokuji slips away and kills her creator.
Commentary
There isn’t really much to say here. A good portion of the episode is this battle and most of the fights are stalemates or have constant interruptions from Mamika who is trying to keep the peace. Perhaps the only noteworthy thing is Blitz Talker saying time is running out. But with Altair being absent for quite a few episodes, it is hard to say what she has planned. Much less, if Shimazaki is the only reason behind her plot and whether she will ever directly confront Sota. Someone who, arguably, maybe the source for all these events being triggered.
Clarifying a Few Things: Sota, Mamika, Matsubara, Marine, Nakanogane
Nakanogane takes Meteora’s place in establishing the rules of the series. Of which, he notes that all the characters we have seen and will see, likely will be favorites of Shimazaki. Well, of course, those aren’t his exact words. However, he does believe that only anime and video game characters will appear. Also, he puts it out there we should only expect local characters. For while Altair may have been birthed online, and Shimazaki was into an online forum, apparently she had selective taste. If not spent most of her time focusing on her own work with little time to admire others. Hell, all things considered, maybe she stopped admiring others because it made her feel like Sota? Perhaps it made her insecure?
But, speaking of Sota, there is a call for him to share his art but, being asked and around professionals, he dares not do so. Though the more interesting thing is likely Mamika meeting with him later, with Mirokuji listening in. If only because Sota admits to her that he knows who Altair is. However, he doesn’t confirm his connection to her origins.
Commentary
I keep looking at that episode count and wonder how they are going to fill it. For, as of now, this series looks like it could be 13 episodes and end on a high note. After all, what is left but to establish Sota’s relationship with Shimazaki, what ultimately led to her walking in front of a train, and establishing Altair’s birth into reality? All that can be done within 1 or 3 more episodes, especially if they cut down, or out, a character putting limitations on what can or may happen on this show. Then, from there, a few battles, a solution to the fantasy meeting reality problem and then we are done.
Leading me to believe, either we should expect a recap episode soon, some slice of life filler, and/or a slew of more battle scenes to fill up the episode order. For really, how else will we make it to episode 22? That is, assuming this show doesn’t lose every bit of luster it has before then.

I doubt it is just us either. Yet, it explains those long lectures from Meteora. Something, I’ll admit, aren’t as long as what Araragi did in the various Monogatari seasons, but at least those were entertaining. When things are explained on this show, it strictly feels like time fillers.
