Recap
Featuring: Hen, Chim, Bobby, Ravi, Eddie, Maddie, Jee-Yun, Buck
With Hen, Chim buys a ring, and he is originally excited. However, as members of the 118 start making plans for the wedding, like Bobby wanting to be the officiant, Ravi asking if it will be a Korean wedding, and everyone making plans beyond the proposal, Chim starts to freak out. But, even with how he is going to propose, they have ideas, and it comes to the point of Chim being overwhelmed and people taking notice.
Now, for some, this just means, like for Eddie, it is time to mess with Chim. However, in the case of Hen, this is worrisome, for while Maddie has been through a lot, so has Chim. Yet, with Buck being Maddie’s brother, his mind isn’t on his co-worker at all, and with Hen being the only one willing to be against the marriage, Buck and she have words.
This makes it so, when Chim loses the ring, because Jee-Yun has it, accusations start flying, and he lands on Hen. But, once the paranoia subsides, so comes retracing every single 911 call since Chim didn’t leave the ring in his locker or any other place where it could have been safe.
Things To Note
Question(s) Left Unanswered
- When 9-1-1 moves to ABC next year, what changes will that cause, if any?
What Could Happen Next
- With the way things are, I think Jee-Yun will be playing with Maddie, and Maddie will think Chim hid the ring in Jee-Yun’s play house. This is likely to lead to him eventually confessing he wanted to propose but lost the ring, her noting she knows where it is, and that being their engagement story.

Highlights
Chim and Hen’s Relationship
It really is beautiful to see Hen’s various relationships throughout the season from Karen, to Athena in some parts, and then ending things with Chim. As noted in earlier seasons, Hen, or her actress, Aisha Hinds, has suppressed main character energy.
That thought aside, the beauty of Chim and Hen’s relationship truly comes from them being the OGs of the 118. They were there before Bobby, and through different chiefs and co-workers, they have remained bonded, and as shown through Denny’s interactions with Chim a few episodes back, he isn’t like family, he is family. Far more than whatever Buck thinks he’ll be because of a piece of paper.
