Storyline Recap

You Shouldn’t Have Listened To Your Mother – Nuria, Charles

Thanks to Nuria’s family, she cannot let go of her insecurities. Charles being away so much must be because he has another woman, if not women, right? Charles does what he rarely does to calm her feelings: he speaks to Nuria while working and even does a video chat. Unfortunately, this doesn’t end her feeling that something isn’t right.

Thus, she starts going through his desk and closet, and upon finding a safe, she tries to access that. When that doesn’t work, she looks into the building plans and discovers an additional room. She has someone break into that room, and that’s when she discovers Charles’ money, passports, some of his weapons, and materials for disguises. Charles watches her discover all in real-time, which surely will make for quite the conversation when they next speak or see each other.

Keep The Circle Tight and Closed – Bianca, Isabel, Damian, Larry, Alison, Osita

Bianca’s bosses, the often-pessimistic Osita and slightly more optimistic Isabel, are ready to shut her operation down. The Norman pursuit was a huge botch, and between Emma dying and Norman getting away, alongside the death of two agents, the losses aren’t compensated with notable wins—at first. Thankfully, forensics is able to discover that the suitcase Norman left behind is similar to what Charles uses, and with that, Bianca has the support of her superiors once again.

However, no sooner than she regains support, she is questioned about how badly the Norman raid went. Osita, too, is questioned, and despite how antagonistic he has been up to this point, he seemingly wants to help now. He advises Bianca to keep who she trusts close and be tight-lipped, for a mole is suspected. Damian, Bianca’s second, is one of the prime suspects, but there is no proof.

Meanwhile, as Bianca gets some form of a win, Alison is at a loss. She lost her daughter, and her husband Larry is going through it, and when Bianca meets with her, she continues to push for Norman’s whereabouts. Unfortunately for Alison, even if she wants to help, she can’t, for Larry discovers what she has done, and seemingly, that triggers a major domestic violence incident. This makes it seem that when Alison texts Bianca pushing the idea she wants to continue, it could be Larry wanting to meet Alison’s contact.

It’s Not Business, It’s Personal – Elias, Charles, Zina

While Charles accepts Zina’s task, he can’t abandon what Elias did. So, as he did before, he takes someone’s identity to get close to Elias, but this time, he kidnaps him while he is on the way to his father’s funeral. With that, Elias tries to contact his security, but Charles is a borderline stunt driver, and Elias drops his phone. However, he doesn’t end the call, so as he confesses to having his father killed and hiring Charles, his security head hears it all.

But the task at hand is rescuing Elias, but with a bullet and an explosive, neither the driver Charles took out, Elias, nor a third person make it out of the situation alive or even close to being possibly revived.

Review

Highlights

Charles Brought Back That Intense Action Movie Vibe

With a car chase and point-blank murder, Charles brought back a sense of excitement to “The Day of The Jackal” regarding its action scenes. This potentially solidifies that while Bianca could hold her own, Charles will deliver the best when it comes to the show.

Low Points

Charles’ Wife and Family

So you’re telling me your curiosity and insecurities really can go so deep that you are not only pulling out blueprints but also drilling into a secret room? I feel like asking questions when Charles got back would have made more sense than going to the extent that Nuria did. For now, after discovering his weapons, money, and passports, the only option is to run, for you have blown his cover.

On The Fence

Bianca’s Investigation

One thing we appreciate about Bianca’s investigation is that, while she has success in each episode, you still see the missteps and the time it takes to progress. This brings a sense of realism, which Bianca consistently does, to “The Day Of The Jackal.” But I will say that while the realism is noteworthy and perhaps necessary, it isn’t always entertaining.
