Recap
You Good? – Van, Earn
It has been six days since Van separated from the guys, and Earn is worried. He doesn’t know where she is, what she is doing, and she hasn’t really been in contact with anyone either. But, after a few days of unresponded to texts, Van sends a thumbs up. Which doesn’t make things better but is better than nothing, right?
So Did You Steal It Or Not? – Socks, Wiley, Folk, Earn, Darius, Al
Paperboi’s tour continues, and at the latest stop, his phone gets stolen. It isn’t clear who did it, never mind why, but after accusing a cancer kid, everyone’s sights goes to the stage manager’s nephew Wiley. Now, on the GP, Socks, who is still around, is ready to go ballistic but gets reeled in because he is a mad dog. Darius? Well, he wants to explore the building using blueprints he has and often never minds the phone because that is what he wants to do, but ultimately doesn’t get to do it. So, Earn, and Al do good cop bad cop.
That doesn’t work. It doesn’t work for two reasons: The first is Wiley is a weird dude who Folk, his uncle and the stage manager, says is 19 but is actually 32. So off the bat, there is a lot of misunderstanding, which isn’t helped by Wiley liking to mess with Earn and Al by being bizarre, But the second reason it didn’t work is that Socks took the phone.
Why? The man likes chaos. You saw what he did to MK’s life on a whim! But, since he didn’t get to go off, he just throws Paperboi’s phone out into the trash, and with Darius and Al not believing in the cloud and having “Find My Phone” be an enabled feature, it means whatever is on Al’s phone is just gone from him forever.

Stuff Happens But Does It Move The Story Forward?
I get that Atlanta is an offbeat comedy, which doesn’t really do structure beyond what is necessary. We’ve been watching this for three seasons now. It is thoroughly established. However, is it wrong to wish we got more?
Don’t get it twisted, like Al, I see Earn working and really earning his check, which is a world’s difference from who he was in season 1 when he could appear to be a mooch. But as for everyone else? Darius is still a weird dude. Al opened up to Wiley about how he feels about music, but whether that will matter in the long term is questionable, and Van? All I know is that Atlanta could use another episode that mainly focuses on Van since I think we only got one of those before.
