Characters & Story
Topic 1: In the final battle against Yan Kumji, we are left wondering if Jeaha could possibly leap far enough to save Yona, and Yun, before Yona gets beheaded. The answer? Naturally he makes it in time, and of course Kumji’s forces fall to Captain Gigan. However, as Kumji’s forces fall, Kumji tries to escape. Something Jeaha tries to stop, but ends up getting an arrow to his should for trying. But, before getting an arrow through his skull, Yona’s presence is felt by Yan Kumji and it stops him in his place. Thus allowing Yona to fire an arrow right into his heart.
Topic 2: With Yan Kumji dead, after his 10 year reign, it seems peace and joy will come to Awa. After all, the man who tortured and kidnapped people is dead. However, while everyone else is celebrating, including Yona’s allies, she comes face to face with a man who, personally for her, is almost on the level of Yan Kumji: Su-Won.
Commentary
While I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Yona be shown as that young ferocious woman we saw in the flash forwards, naturally her coming face to face with Su-Won is what has my attention. For while a part of me expected it to happen, since Kumji kept mentioning how he saw her in the palace, I won’t pretend I thought it was set in stone. Though, I wonder, with Yona being on the run for who knows how long, and the last thing Su-Won needing is her revealing he assassinated the king, how can this go?
After all, no one seemed to like King Il. He allowed people like Yan Kumji to rise to power, and weakened the kingdom exponentially. So, question is, would anyone care King Il was murdered? Much less, would they even give Yona consideration for the throne?
I mean, we know that Yona ends up on the run, after getting her final dragon, but who knows what could happen from where we are now till then. She could join forces with Su-Won and that weird associate of Su-Won could betray him right? After all, while there are multiple predictable angles here, there is no written clause saying the show may go in assumed directions.
