As Alex begins breaking under pressure, the girls continue to push Ayanna’s buttons and leave Carlotta to clean up their mess.

When you got a formula which works, in which you can just change the actors (physically but keeping similar personalities), tinker with the storyline, and make something new, you use that! That is what Ryan Murphy has been doing for years and with Lee Daniels really gaining a lot of commercial notoriety with Empire, that…
Star ends with a bang, a bit of redemption, and a few body bags to take out characters who outlived their purpose.
As usual with Star, the focus is more on the personal drama to create obstacles for “Big Trouble” than anything dealing with getting into the music industry. But, outside of Jahil’s situation, and maybe Alex’s, it seems like the same BS but a different day (or boy).
Jahil continues to use “Big Trouble” as a means to reestablish himself and while he begins to reclaim some of his former glory, Cotton is starting to bottom out. Also, Derek makes a foolish mistake which could cost him, and maybe Alex, everything.
Overview/ Review (with Spoilers) While Star, once again, ruined a serious moment with a song and dance number, that one blemish in no way ruins what is done with building up Carlotta and Cotton’s story. Especially in regards to how Mary played a role in Cotton’s life.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbOz5i_uPts Overview/ Review (with Spoilers) As usual with the series, while there is quite a bit of drama ranging from physical violence to watching an emotionally traumatic scene, the moments are watered down and given a swift comic relief moment – thus killing the power and meaning.
Overview/ Review (with Spoilers) With the death of Danielle comes the need to get justice. However, in the end, it seems it will just be a means to bring back old characters and push a few new storylines.
Overview/ Review (with Spoilers) As Star deals with people trying to take her spotlight, in the worse way possible, Carlotta and Cotton’s relationship becomes more strained than ever. However, what happens at the end of the episode helps to push everyone back together. If for just a moment.
Overview/ Review (with Spoilers) As Otis’ death still haunts Simone, and Carlotta’s relationship with Jahil is brought up, the girls refocus on the Atlanta talent show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGXcXhk6vng Overview/ Review (with Spoilers) Otis is a problem. One which seemingly the show realized it shouldn’t drag out so they decide to handle that storyline this episode to leave Jahil with the bulk of the criminal activity.
Overview As Simone reveals what has her trying to numb the pain, and Jahil learns what Maggie will really have him doing, Star keeps hustling for a dream.
Overview/ Review (with Spoilers) There is a certain realness it seems Star is trying to have. Be it addressing Rich Black privilege, self-medicating/ addiction, or even something as small as noting when girls go to the bathroom it can stink like hell too. Making it so it almost seems like Daniels, with this show, is…
Overview Similar to Empire, Star is very much rooted in Black music. However, there are no boardrooms, the stars of the show aren’t rich folk who are established. This show, primarily, seems about the struggle to achieve fame. Trigger Warning(s): Transphobia & Rape Attempt
