Paper Towns: Part 1/ Chapters 5 to 9 – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Chapter 5 Overview As the adventure continues, you are almost led to believe Margo may end her life after all is said and done. Review (with Spoilers) Though Margo remains this oddly whimsical and eccentric young lady, one with this odd quest of revenge, sadly Q remains but a shapeless pawn. Maybe so we can see ourselves in his shoes, or because Green was so focused on Margo being interesting that Q got left to the wayside. Either way, as we venture through part 6 – 8, it makes the fact all this happened within 2 hours amazing.

Paper Towns: Chapter 1 to 4 – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Overview As we jump ahead to senior year of high school, it seems the mystery of the book is just a chapter away. Review (with Spoilers) To show you how much representation matters, I was dreading this chapter until Radar, Q’s Black friend, showed up and made me laugh repeatedly. Well twice, but still when I think of John Green I don’t think jokes. I think of the main character’s love interest dying. Which perhaps should be considered a spoiler alert, at least for his other books. Anyway, this chapter definitely is one which intrigues and sort of makes me feel the prologue should have been scrapped.

Paper Towns: Prologue – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Overview Welcome to Jefferson, Florida. A town in which two 9-year-olds get the pleasure of discovering a dead body. Review (with Spoilers) This will be my third John Green book after The Fault in Our Stars as well as Looking for Alaska, which honestly I’m more so reading because there is a movie for this being made over a true genuine interest. For, at the moment, I feel like John Green like will find The Fault in Our Stars being where he peaked. Which isn’t to say this new book he is working on will be bad, but I doubt it will have the emotional impact The Fault in Our Stars had. But, as for this book, right now I feel interested because it seems to be a romance/ mystery. Though with Margo having what I believe would fit the whole Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope, I hope this stays…

    Collected Quotes from “Paper Towns”

Best Of “Each of us starts out as a watertight vessel. And these things happen: these people leave us, or don’t love us, or don’t get us, or we don’t get them, and we lose and fail and hurt one another. And the vessel starts to crack open in places. And I mean, yeah, once the vessel cracks open, the end becomes inevitable. […] But there is all this time between when the cracks start to open up and when we finally fall apart. And it’s only in that time that we can see one another, because we see out of ourselves through our cracks and into others through theirs.” — Paper Towns: Agloe – Pages 237-238 “Maybe I am the most horribly self-centered person in the history of the word. But God, do you think I would […] if I didn’t need to?” — Paper Towns: Agloe – Page…

Paper Towns (Movie) – Overview/ Review (with Spoilers)

Initial Thoughts As someone who has read the book, much less took notes while reading it to break it down chapter by chapter, honestly I was sort of excited for the film. Albeit, Paper Towns is my least favorite John Green book, and honestly I feel like I was meh on it overall, but there is always the chance the movie is better than the source. This is not one of those times.
