Upon arriving in Atlanta, Ms. Pat and her family arrive at her old house where Trina and her newly released mother, Tanya, stay, and old feelings between Tanya and Ms. Pat bubble up.
From what we learned and heard from Trina previously, Tanya's life continued the path Ms. Pat set it on, leading to multiple prison stints and even having Trina in prison.
But as Tanya and Ms. Pat hash things out, especially after she gives Janelle money for college, Lloyd's wife Shatoya tries to convince Brandon and Ashley to help save their father's life.
When it comes to Lloyd, there is the question of whether he can change and be redeemed, and while Shatoya goes to bat for him, you can't discount her being Ashley's age.
What was also notable was Ashley's reaction to Shatoya's proposal due to how Ashley, being a mental health professional, conflicts with her own trauma.
Ms. Pat set Tanya on her path but didn't get Tanya out of danger like she did Denise. Also, Trina wasn't saved either. So, how do you reconcile who set Tanya on this track vs. their autonomy?
