Virginia is new to New Orleans and is not only broke but on the verge of being homeless when she meets Jake. He has a place for her to stay, but it is a sex house.
Summary
She agrees to stay and even helps Jake research different kinks and fetishes, which were foreign to her due to her evangelical upbringing.
Review
What may surprise many is that "Sex-Positive" lives up to being a sex comedy. It depicts sex and makes fun of sex, and like any good comedy or comedian, it also presents commentary.
Review
But while the commentary, jokes, and depiction of sex are good, there is a lack of chemistry between characters, which some may find disappointing. Specifically romantic chemistry.
Review
Alongside that, there isn't necessarily a balance between the comedic and serious sides of the film, which is a shame considering how it earnestly talks about sex in ways barely any films, except documentaries, do.
Overall
"Sex-Positive" lives up to its name by showing lots of sex, but, unfortunately, it is inconsistent when it is time to go beyond the superficial and get in there deep.
