My Lust Got The Best Of Me & My Lover: Koda

The one Koda supposedly killed, Junichi, that was his love. So it seemed, they were rivals and also very much in love. Yet no, as seems to be customary on this show, while one half dies, the other gets possessed by a demon. The only exception being Akira’s transformation.

Taking My Name Back: Miko, Miki

Devilman Crybaby Season 1 Episode 6 Neither Human Nor Demon - Miko

With it finally being the big race at Koshien, Miko wants to challenge Miki for her name back. Which is kind of laughed off and not really agreed to.

A Psycho With Semi-Good Intentions: Ryo, Akira, Koda

As planned, Ryo uses Koda to expose the existence of demons on a world stage. And while many broadcasters shut down their feeds once Ryo triggers Koda with images of the Sabbath party, Ryo keeps his going. Thus showing Koda kill a massive amount of people, mostly his fellow track racers, and then it was supposed to be Akira’s task to kill him.

However, with Akira not buying Ryo’s belief that demons don’t have hearts, after all, look at him, he seemingly wants to save Koda. Now, how to do so when the thing Koda loved, which gave him normalcy, is dead, well that’s for Akira to figure out.

  1. Will it ever be explained how Akira somehow, for the most part, is able to hold off the urges of Amon? A demon powerful enough to take out the majority we have seen.

It’s Getting A Little Bit Interesting Again

Devilman Crybaby Season 1 Episode 6 Neither Human Nor Demon - Demon League

How does one tame a demon? Akira seems to have mastered his demon and it was assumed it was because he was pure of heart. What if it is just because Ryo didn’t die or because Akira had so much love in his heart, even losing Ryo wouldn’t allow for Amon to take over? That is, as opposed to Miko whose hatred of Miki fuels her to the point she is bound to lose control. Much less, Koda, whose trauma over Junichi’s death, doesn’t even allow him to enjoy topping some dude because it triggers the night he lost his favorite bottom?

On The Fence

Anyone Surprised They Didn’t Sexualize The Men More?

Devilman Crybaby Season 1 Episode 6 Neither Human Nor Demon - Koda's lover while getting his back blown out

I get that most anime isn’t necessarily made for women or gay men, but I find it interesting with how graitious the nudity of the women have been, they didn’t take this episode to do the same for the men. Granted, we open up with a gay sex scene, but you’d think between bare asses and some peen, they would have balanced things out. After all, just by us seeing pubic hair, clearly this isn’t a Japanese original since they censor that. So, considering this is American produced, or at least financed, them not going all out has me a bit disappointed.

But, then again, America isn’t the UK and while naked women and bodies being ripped apart is A OK! Male genitals is apparently too much for human consumption. Go figure.

  1. Just wanted to say, pubes ain’t the same as genitals? Also homophobia is still a thing in Japan (correct me if I’m wrong), so the whole scene is taboo enough for the Japanese viewers. You’ve seen other Netflix shows (especially Sense8). If it was up to Netflix, the nudity would have been doubled ?
