Martin “Marty” Byrde (Jason Bateman)

When we are introduced to Marty, he is just a financial advisor who is well known for being anal about money and is cheap. But also, he is one of the top launderers in the business.

Additional Information About Marty

  • 1.1: Is having an affair
    • Married approximately 22 years to Wendy.
  • 1.4: Grew up in the South Bend near Chicago.
  • 1.8: Marty finding someone was skimming Del’s accounts is what led to him getting involved with the Navarro cartel.
  • 2.4: Dad died of Pancreatitis.

Bruce (Josh Randall)

Character Introduction

Marty’s partner who, thanks to his greed, and getting snitched on, is the catalyst for all of Marty and Wendy’s problems, and the reason they are forced to move to the Ozarks. Which, originally was Bruce’s idea, but Marty took it to save his, and his family’s, life.

  • 1.8: Bruce’s business with Marty began since they were best friends since college and while Marty is good with numbers, he isn’t with people. Hence Bruce.

Del (Esai Morales)

Runs the second-largest Mexican drug cartel, the Camino Del Rio and Marty works for him in season 1.

Marty’s wife of 22 years who he has two children with and a failing marriage.

  • 1.2: Wendy has a Master’s degree
  • 1.8: Back in 2007, she worked on state senate races
    • Was in a car accident which, combined with her pregnancies, really threw off her career. Add in staying at home didn’t work much for her, and it led to her getting depressed.
  • 2.3: First mention of her brother and him being manic-depressive.
  • 2.7: Goes into her childhood filled with sex, booze and drugs, before 15, having relations with the pastor, multiple abortions, and so much more.

Marty and Wendy’s youngest who is a bit eccentric, doesn’t make friends easily, but usually latches onto someone who is strange but accepts him.

    • Mom, Barb, was an addict and he took care of her.
    • Petty expected the FBI to be more like TV with action and suspense, not being a government accountant.
